Yep, I was planning on it. It'll be a combo - first some hang power cleans and then a short metcon.

we do want to do like all metcons this week, and we'll do them 3 on 1 off, so we'll just have the first day of school off.

Ok, it's up. Who's all planning on doing them with you?

That's great that you guys want to do metcons, but you still need to do you power/strength work as well (and always do those movements before any metcons).

Metabolic conditioning is important, but power and strength are equally important. For example, cleans and front squats will have a greater impact on your ability to jump and hit the ball hard than a metcon will.

I realize that metcons often feel more intense, but stick with the power and strength work. It will pay off (and as a side note, it contributes to faster metcon times by making you stronger).

I'll post two more WODs for this week (for Tuesday and Wednesday). They both will be comprised of a strength movement followed by a short metcon. Tuesday's movement will be overhead squats, and Wednesday's movement will be push press.

Regarding the lifting/met cons, I agree with Mr. Meggers. =) We'll be focusing on the lifts that will help you all be the most powerful and explosive athletes you can be. The met cons are good, too, but the lifting is where you get the most power so try to keep that in mind when you're doing them! =) (I personally have more FUN doing the met cons, but I've gotten stronger faster from increasing the lifting rather than doing more met cons. =)
